Some Feedback :
‘I was already a big fan of David’s work before and this album proves the man is a genius.
I Love it.’

‘He’s a clever fella is Mr Borsu. It shows his hand is placed firmly on his heart and a real taste for eclectic styles of music comes shinning thru as he dabbles with future jazz grooves, funk, latin to broken beats.’
Paul Gamblin/ Heavy Mannas (Australia)
‘Each track has real warmth & as a listening experience, the collection flows with effortless cool’

‘A very good album all the way. Broken beat at it’s best’
Ben G (Righton FM, France)
‘Faultless production, ultra-tight beats, broken jazz & future funk- it’s one solid muvva!
Alan Gubby (Nanny Tango)
I love the album. It¹s complete and sounding fresh. This man learnt a lot in a very short time. His production skills (soundwise) improved a 200%!!! His arrangements got more and more interesting. I still play out Move (the original version) it rocks the crowd for sure! Other highlights for me are the previously released (on vinyl) Hustle the funk & ColtraneŠMannequin Mankind is sweety too. Keep it up, David!

Bernard Dobbeleer (Tele-Moustique, Belgium)
‘Borsu’s cut n’ paste style debut unleashes a dose of funky passion upon a sore head like a finger up the arse for a wake up call.’
(Blowback magazine, UK)
‘Insight is an assured longplayer from an exciting jazz talent’
Jon Freer (Mosoul)
Producer and obsessive vinyl collector David Borsu has reached the pinnacle of his musical journey. The release of this splendid album automatically makes you feel like you have been invited over to his house and he is flicking through some of his favourite tunes for you, colouring the air with old style smoky vocal jazz, broken soul, urban juju poetry or electro funk… The influences by such great names as Marc Moulin are obvious on this long player just as touches of John Barry, 4 Hero and Kaidi Tatham also seep through and stain your mind with shades of musical beauty and class. One bit of bad news for you though, you will have to wait until May for the release of this modern day gem of an album!!!

I think David is one of Belgium’s best kept secrets and I’m sure
his album will all change that, I’m really digging his album which has a unique personal style, can’t wait to spin it !

David Borsu is Belgian muso – no don’t switch off! There’s nothing really wrong with Belgium as this sweet little 14 tracker proves and it truth this music has no real geographical definition… it could’ve been made anywhere since Borsu casts his net far and wide for his influences, samples and ideas. The keynote here is variety. “Insight†offers loping jazz (“Late Nite Swingâ€), spacey chillers (“Syncopassionâ€), electro-funk (“â€Hustle The Funkâ€), broken beats (“Mannequin Mankindâ€) and much more besides. Maybe the biggest tune here is “Moveâ€. It’s almost funky and features a great vocal Navasha Daya. The tune gets two mixes right at the end , with Mark De Clive Lowe giving it a rather special, sophisticated tweak, while Borsu himself breaks up the beat pattern. In any of its three incarnations its good tune. Quite different, but equally appealing, is “Nocturne†a jazzy chillier with a hint of Charlie Byrd/Joe Pass guitar – quite lovely and an example of the LP’s real variety. (Rating 4/4 Stars)

This album has been on rotation in my record box for the past 2 years! Still sounds wickedly fresh: listening to ‘East Beaumont’ / ‘Mannequin Mankind instantly tells you that. ‘Syncopassion’ is the killa cut that I keep coming back to time after time. This is a big record !

Here is a producer and DJ who’s been on the scene for many years pushing quality music in his city of Liege in Belgium. Counterpoint recognised such a great talent and wisely snapped up David’s debut. “Insight†builds over the 70mins, as a DJ should build up a crowd, starting off with some Jazzy cuts, through mid tempo workouts, to house anthems “Move†and “Hustle The Funkâ€. For the last 6 months I’ve been hammering to death the Broken Beat anthem “Mannequin Mankindâ€. Watching people dance to this mental track with devastating beats and basslines is pure entertainment. The ace Mark De Clive-Low remix of “Move†is included if you missed out on the recent single but make sure you don’t miss out on this.

David Borsu’s ‘Insight’ shows us many influences and styles ranging from late night jazzy grooves, bossa, jazzdance, deep n funky spoken word & gospel preaches, future breaks, Detroit-R & S techno homages, Bugz style beats, trippy east/west influenced grooves à la Cocos Blue Room, and MdCL remixing ‘Move’ for maximum dancefloor appeal….all in all a varied album for home and club play for the more discerning and mature listener.

The long-awaited debut album from David Borsu—an artist who’s really been catching our ears these past few years with his excellent singles on Counterpoint, but who sounds even better on a full length set! Borsu’s got plenty of cosmic touches that echo his affiliation with Counterpoint—a love of spacey keyboards that starts in the 70s and pushes boldly into the 21st century—sometimes breaking rhythms up into a more abstract mode, but other times taking things in a more straightforward jazz funk style! Borsu composed, arranged, and produced the whole set—but he gets some great help here from vocalists Damia Da Costa, Olu Butterfly, and Navasha Daya of Fertile Ground—who come in on occasional tracks and keep the album from being an all-instrumental affair. And despite the modernist images in the cover, Borsu does plenty to keep things warm and soulful throughout—really going for a mix of modes that balances the record nicely, and avoids the colder sounds of his electronics
